How should teeth be brushed?

The most important cause of caries and gum disease is plaque accumulated on the teeth. The only way to remove the formed plaque is to brush the teeth correctly and regularly.

It should be made of synthetic bristles . The ends should be rounded . They should deasily reach the back of the teeth.

How should toothpaste be?

No toothpaste does wonders. Fluoride-containing toothpastes are helpful in relieving sensitivity and providing resistance to caries. Using a toothpaste that we like will always motivate us.

How should the brushing technique be?

The most basic principle is that the brush touches all surfaces of the teeth at least three times.
After brushing, the tongue should not feel rough on the teeth.
Horizontal movements made back and forth during brushing should definitely be avoided.
Brushing should always be done from the gum to the tooth.
The tongue surface must be brushed.
In patients with gum disease, toothbrushes recommended by the doctor should be preferred.

What kind of problems will happen if we brush the teeth with horizontal movements?

In the short term, no problems occur, but in the long term, abrasions are seen in the neck parts of the
teeth

What does bleeding gums mean when brushing?

Bleeding gums are a symptom of gum disease. A doctor must be consulted.

What is dental floss?

The interfaces, which are the invisible parts of the teeth, cover 30% of the teeth, and it is usually these interfaces where the caries starts.
Flossing is the only way to clean interfaces and should be used daily.
Interface brushes should be used instead of floss in cases where the gums between two teeth are receding.

What are mouthwashes?

They are instruments that use liquid and air to clean the area between the teeth and gums with water or various drugs, especially in individuals with gum disease.

Interface brushes

We use interface brushes to clean the cavities caused by gingival recession and the lower parts of bridge restorations.

Mouthwashes

Mouthwashes never have therapeutic properties on their own. In addition to the gum treatment performed by the physician, it has a reducing effect on the amount of bacteria in the mouth. We do not recommend using only mouthwashes, especially for individuals with bad breath, because mouthwashes can cause problems to be hidden.

Electric Toothbrushes

Electric toothbrushes, which are used especially in individuals with insufficient manual dexterity and with disabilities, provide a more effective cleaning compared to manual brushing. The most important factor when using these brushes is that the teeth should be contacted at a 45 degree angle without pressing too much.
